A Tsh.8 billion ($4.5m) agreement has been signed by the U.K.’s Avanti Communications Group Plc for the internet connectivity of 250 public schools. The pact is signed under the UCSAF (Universal Communications Service Access Fund) and will serve to establish twenty five ICT (Information Communication Technology) academies in multiple areas of the country.
The deal is forecast to enhance health services in approximately 150 Tanzanian hospitals as well as education services. The UCSAF CEO Eng. Peter Ulanga said after he had signed the agreement in Dar es Salaam that during the initial phase the project’s primary focus will be on connectivity of the schools, with the second phase focusing on the hospitals’ connectivity.
