“Smart cities” and the “connected car” present two potential markets that are exciting and new for the satellite industry to enter throughout the next few years, especially the latter because connectivity that is “always on” could be a big attraction for satellite services.

Frost & Sullivan report that vehicle manufacturers want to increase the dynamics of connectivity in this expanding market. Research reveals that two fifths of drivers are still using mobile devices in preference to navigation systems, which indicates customer (driver) mistrust in these native connectivity and navigation systems.
