Global Xpress Satellite Number Two by Inmarsat Now Ready for Launch


Boeing and the TsEnkI sub-group of YSC (Yuzhny Space Center), KRPSC (Khrunichev Research and Production Space Center) have made preparations for the launching of the next Global Xpress HTS (High Throughput Satellite), at the Cosmodrome in Baikonur.

ILS (International Launch Services) are contracted to launch the Inmarsat-5 F2 satellite on board a Proton rocket on 30 January. Three orbiting satellites plus one spare comprises Global Xpress. The Inmarsat-5 F2 satellite, having been delivered in 2014 on 18 December had tests begun on it by the constellation’s prime contractor, Boeing.
