Market in West Africa Targeted by Spacecom and Eutelsat Partnership

Spacecom and Eutelsat Communications have entered into a joint venture. African digital entertainment provisions will experience expansion driven by the venture. Both partners confirm that a framework has been established for the cross-commercial provision of a connection to the Eutelsat 16A satellite’s areas of high-powered service within Africa supplying KU-band capacity at a position sixteen degrees east and also at a position of seventeen degrees East via the Amos-5 satellite operated by Spacecom.

The two satellites currently beam a combination of more than 100 international and African channels on a free-to-air basis; ordinary 80cm dishes can receive the channels throughout an expansive area containing in excess of 30 million homes with TVs, notable locations being Nigeria, Ghana and French-speaking Africa.
