Boeing has received an order from NYBB (New York Broadband), US operator of twelve UHF (Ultra-High Frequency) TV channels for an HP (high-powered) L-band satellite. New York Broadband and CMMB Vision based in Hong Kong have an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) for the leasing of all the new satellite’s capacity, named NYBBSat 1, for a multimedia mobile service in Asia and China.
NYBBSat 1 will replace the 105 degrees east orbiting AsiaStar which was acquired recently by NYBB including the satellite’s rights for L-band spectrum. The satellite is expected to be in orbit by the middle of 2017 and the company is currently tying to procure a launching vehicle. The satellite will be built by Boeing using its MP (Medium Power) framework.
