Robust Satellite M2M Growth Forecast by NSR

NSR reports that the notable expansion of IoT (Internet of Everything) and M2M (Machine-to-Machine) communications has not dampened forecasts of satellite holding a notable niche. The research company’s “M2M and IoT via Satellite, 5th Edition” study claims that income steams will increase by more than a factor of two in 2023 to $2.4 billion from the 2013 total of $1.1 billion.

The capacity to deliver a globalised service via one point of contact gives satellite an advantage over competitors, and the expectation is for this advantage to be held for many more years. Latin America and Asia are cited as first class examples of well established land-based networks; the CAGR (Calculated Annual Growth Rate) for satellite in-service units is predicted to be a respective 9.9 per cent and 12.6 per cent.
