It has been reported by the BBC that the ISS (International Space Station) and the Dragon capsule, built privately, have successfully docked. The Dragon capsule had a payload of essential supplies, and successfully completes US-based SpaceX’s mission. However there was a failed test to return parts of the launch rocket to a soft landing on a platform floating at sea.
Butch Wilmore, commander of the International Space Station grabbed the space capsule along with its 5,000lb (2,300kg) essential supplies utilising a robot arm. The supplies of the six astronauts on board the space station were running low as the Orbital Science’s prior US supply craft had been destroyed in October by exploding soon after launching.
