US satellite communication technologies centre to be opened by Lockheed


A new Denver, US-based development centre will be opened by Lockheed Martin to enhance satellite communication and sensing technologies. The centre, called the Radio Frequency Payloads Center of Excellence will configure payloads and improve satellite services intended for HD TV broadcasts to government communications and GPS transmissions.

The facility will form a single roof over the heads of analysts, manufacturers and researchers to help boost team collaboration, reduce transport costs and improve schedules, “Enabling communications so people can make effective decisions is at the core of what RF systems do.” It will form partnerships with research universities and suppliers, developing multiple technologies involved in RF payloads, including transmitters, arrays and antennas.
